BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13) arrested 35 wanted personalities during an intensified drive from July 1 to 10 this year.
In a statement on Thursday, Brig. Gen. Alan Nazarro, the director of PRO-13, said out of the 35 arrested, five are listed as most wanted persons (MWPs), while the other 30 have existing arrest warrants issued by different regional courts.
Among the MWPs arrested was a certain “Rey,” listed as the top most wanted person in this city, who yielded to authorities during the implementation of an arrest warrant on July 9 in Barangay Tabaca.
Rey is facing charges of statutory rape at the Regional Trial Court Branch 1 here.
Data provided by PRO-13 indicated that the Butuan City Police Office had the most arrests during the period, with 11; Surigao del Sur Provincial Police Office (PPO) with nine; Surigao del Norte PPO (6); Agusan del Sur PPO (5), and Agusan del Norte PPO (4).
“We attribute these successful arrests to the support and cooperation of the community and all stakeholders,” Nazarro said.
He also assured the region's residents of the continued pursuit of other law offenders to give justice to the victims of criminalities.
