The National Bureau of Investigation – Special Task Force (NBI-STF) yesterday bared they have arrested two suspected child traffickers together ina joint operation with with the Department of Justice- Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (DOJ-IACAT) and Destiny Rescue International, which also resulted in the rescue of two (2) minor trafficked victims..
Arrested in the operation at Mother Ignacia Avenue, Diliman, Quezon City were Peter John Laurente Canon and Jayson Torre Condalor.
NBI Director Jaime Santiago said that the rescued victims were turned-over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) while the arrested suspects will be presented for inquest proceedings before the Prosecutor’s Office for violation of R.A. 9208 (Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003), as amended.
Additional information revealed that other victims are still being harbored and maintained at a residential house in Batasan Hills, Quezon City. Santiago said operatives of NBI-STF will conduct a follow-up rescue operation once the exact address has been identified.
Santiago lauded the operatives of NBI-STF for the successful rescue operation and assured that the NBI is exerting its full effort to locate and identify the other victims.
