MANILA – The 3.6-km. Balogo-Kilo-Kilo Road Phase 3 Project of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is contributing to the livelihood and economic activities of the upland communities of Sta. Cruz town in Marinduque province, months since its completion.
In his report to DPWH Secretary Manuel Bonoan, DPWH 4-B (Mimaropa) Director Gerald Pacanan said that since the culmination of the road project in Barangay Balogo, residents have witnessed a significant change in their daily lives, improving mobility and access to transportation, and fostering more business opportunities in the area.
“The access road has significantly reduced travel time, allowing residents in the mountainous communities to have better access to essential services, particularly in healthcare and education, driving the economic upswing in the municipality of Sta. Cruz,” Pacanan added in a media release on Wednesday.
Balogo-Kilo-Kilo Road Phase 3 traverses from Barangay Balogo to Barangay Biga which includes the construction of a 2.5-kilometer line canal, concrete slope protections, and is also installed with 36 solar streetlights ensuring safety, resiliency, and sustainability against all weather conditions.
Implemented by the DPWH Marinduque District Engineering Office, Balogo-Kilo-Kilo Road Phase 3 was completed in the amount of PHP96.72 million funded under the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2022. (PR)
