Acop tells Harry Roque's wife to comply with show-cause order or face arrest

Antipolo City 2nd District Rep. Romeo Acop on Monday warned Mylah Roque, wife of former presidential spokesman Harry Roque, that the House Quad-Comm would be forced to seek her arrest if she fails to comply with the show-cause order issued against her.

“Pwede naman siya pumunta at magsabi na I refuse to answer dahil ma self-incriminate siya…Kung di siya pupunta, isa ‘yan sa pinakamabigat sa rules namin na pwede siyang ma-cite in contempt, for not respecting our invitation,” Acop, who is vice chair of all four House panels comprising the Quad Comm, told TeleRadyo Serbisyo. “Kung hindi mo i-honor 'yung subpoena, we will request that an arrest order be issued against her."

"If the quad committee schedules a hearing and she does not show up despite the invitation, we will issue an order to cite her in contempt," said Acop, chairman of the House Committee on Transportation.

The Quad Comm's issuance of a show-cause order against Mrs. Roque was the solons' way of giving her a chance to explain why the joint panel shouldn't arrest her.

Mrs. Roque didn't attend the previous Quad-Comm hearing on Sept. 19. Instead, she informed the committee through a letter that she was undergoing medical treatment in Singapore.

Harry Roque is a central figure in the quad-comm's probe on Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs).

Surigao del Norte 2nd District Rep. Robert Ace Barbers, Quad-Comm overall chairman, explained that Mrs. Roque was initially invited to clarify her involvement in signing a lease agreement with Chinese nationals allegedly linked to a POGO complex in Bamban, Tarlac.

Acop also confirmed that the committee requests Mrs. Roque's medical records to understand her condition better.
