Boy Scouts of the Philippines elects new set of execs

The Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) has elected a new set of officials to lead its more than three million members.

The National Executive Board of the BSP on Friday reelected Agusan del Norte 2nd District Rep. Dale Corvera as national president for his third term.

The elected BSP national president is given one year in every term of service in the organization.

The BSP Board also elected Emilio Aquino as senior vice president (VP); lawyer Charles Mark Parcia as VP for Luzon; Francis Frederick Palanca as VP for the Visayas; Jose Rizalino Ortega as VP for Mindanao; Jimmy Ang as national treasurer; Wigberto Encarnacion Jr. as assistant national treasurer; Cedrick Train as chief national commissioner; David Dominic Lanuza as international commissioner; and Jose Mari Pelaez as deputy international commissioner.

“Leading this great organization for me is not just about fulfilling a duty but embracing a calling that reflects my lifelong dedication to Scouting and its values that shaped me to become what I am today,” Corvera said in a statement on Saturday.

He added that the transformative power of Scouting would continue to impact the lives of young people through good governance and in promoting safe scouting in all activities and training courses.

“We shall continue to pursue the 8-Point Agenda that we laid down when we first assumed as national president a few years ago,” Corvera said.

He added that the organization would put a premium on devising ways to support local councils financially without violating auditing rules and regulations.

“With my exposure to world scouting, I saw the need for us to give more opportunities to our scouts to be involved in decision-making and in innovating scouting, hence, more focus will be given to this,” he said.

Corvera also chairs the BSP Council in Agusan del Norte and the Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee.
