Diego C. Cagahastian, a veteran newspaper editor, was elected to the position of Vice President for External Affairs at the general assembly and election of officers of the Philippine Agricultural Journalists Inc. (PAJ) for 2024-2026.
Cagahastian is presently the Editor-in-Chief of The Daily Chronicle, the newest virtual newspaper in Philippine media industry. The Chronicle is published online daily.
The assembly was held at the Agricultural Training Institute mess hall, ATI Compound, Elliptical Road, Diliman, Quezon City last May 2.

Before joining The Daily Chronicle, Cagahastian was consulting editor of Opinyon Media Advocacies and editorial writer of Malaya Business Insight.
He worked for 26 years in the Manila Bulletin, where he was deskman, Malacañang reporter, Metro editor and News editor.
Cagahastian briefly worked as Assistant Secretary in the Office of the Press Secretary in Malacañang under President Joseph Estrada. He was also head of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) Education and Information Department and Comelec spokesman under Chairman Benjamin Abalos.
During the six-year term of Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada, Cagahastian was head of the City Information Office and Mayor Estrada’s spokesman.
