CIDG seizes P4-M illegal LPG tanks in Batangas

Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) have arrested four persons and seized PHP4 million worth of illegal liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) cylinder tanks in the province of Batangas.

In a statement Monday, CIDG chief Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said their operatives implemented a search warrant issued by the Calamba City, Laguna Regional Trial Court for unauthorized sale and distribution of petroleum products against the Royal Gas Corporation in Sto. Tomas City, Batangas on Oct. 12.

Arrested during the operation were suspects with aliases 'Ronaldo' and 'Nestor', operators of the facility, and two administrative staff identified as alias 'Roma' and 'Leny'.

Torre said the authorities confiscated a variety of illegal LPG equipment and products, including LPG tanks, gas fillers, and compressors, all valued at PHP4.014 million.

He said the arrest and evidence collection were properly documented, with two alternative recording devices (ARDs) used during the operation.

The suspects and the confiscated pieces of evidence were brought to CIDG Batangas Provincial Field Unit for documentation. They would face charges for violation of Republic Act 11592 or the LPG Industry Regulation Act. (PNA)
