The Department of Tourism (DOT), through its Region XI office, partners with SM Lanang, bringing back the highly anticipated Davao Dive Expo from July 5 to 7 at the Atrium of SM Lanang in Davao City.
Now in its third consecutive year, the Davao Dive Expo is dubbed as Mindanao’s premier dive exhibition that brings together dive stakeholders and enthusiasts, marine conservation groups and dive establishments in celebrating the wonders of our oceans and engage in crucial conversations on reef preservation.
DOT Region 11 Director Tanya Rabat-Tan expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming Davao Dive Expo, highlighting its dual role in showcasing Mindanao's extraordinary underwater beauty and emphasizing a strong commitment to marine conservation and sustainable tourism. She stated, "We are excited to welcome everyone to the Davao Dive Expo. This event not only showcases the unparalleled underwater beauty of Mindanao but also underscores our commitment to marine conservation and sustainable tourism. By fostering collaboration and raising awareness, the Davao Dive Expo plays a crucial role in protecting our vibrant marine ecosystems for future generations."
With the theme "Dive with a Purpose," the expo will spotlight various advocacy initiatives focusing on marine conservation, responsible marine wildlife interaction, and sustainable tourism practices.
"Through this expo, we endeavor to showcase, create awareness and appreciation on our dive sites, specifically here in Davao Region, and find sustainable ways on how we can work together in promoting and protecting them," added Rabat-Tan.
Partner agencies, such as the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Philippine Commission on Sports Scuba Diving will be providing valuable updates from their respective organizations.
It will also feature respected environmental champions, including renowned underwater photographer Ram Yoro, who will delve into the enchanting world of plankton through Bonfire Diving (Night Photography), and respected freediver and content creator Cha Ocampo, who will share insights on the vital role of divers in marine conservation during the forum. Other local advocates for marine protection and sustainability will also be joining the roster of speakers, adding depth and diversity to the event's discourse.
This year's Davao Dive Expo will have a total of 23 exhibitors showcasing various dive destinations in the Davao Region, including the Island Garden City of Samal in Davao del Norte; Mati, Governor Generoso and Baganga in Davao Oriental; and Mabini in Davao de Oro. DOT Mindanao Regions 9, 10, 12, 13, and a special participation from DOT 4A (CALABARZON) will also be joining in offering more diverse range of dive experiences.
Moreover, local dive shops, resorts, and prominent brands will also feature pop-up booths, exclusive deals and offerings, adding more excitement to mall-goers throughout the three-day event. There will also be a photo exhibit that will present Davao Region's captivating underwater realm.
