The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) regional office in Central Visayas has engaged PLDT Enterprise to provide stable, reliable, and fast internet and voice connectivity to better serve the fastest-growing region in the country and one of the top priority areas for infrastructure development.
Dedicated to driving the transformation of the local government units, PLDT Enterprise equips DPWH Region VII with iGate and SIP Trunks, facilitating seamless access and communication across the government agency's clientele in Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental, and Siquijor – the constituent provinces of Central Visayas.
Central Visayas is the fourth-largest regional economy in the country. It boasts numerous tourist destinations and hosts diverse industries, including footwear, ICT-enabled services, electronics manufacturing, the marine industry, food processing, houseware, and furniture manufacturing.
PLDT Enterprise's iGate is a dedicated internet access service that provides customers with guaranteed bandwidth and is tailor-fit for running bandwidth-intensive applications, hosting rich-media content, and supporting mission-critical communications. On the other hand, SIP trunks are telephone lines ported to a different telephone exchange. This service is best for offices in geographically dispersed locations needing constant contact.
"We partnered with PLDT Enterprise to ensure a stable and dedicated internet connection for all our online transactions. Through this partnership, we will also have a unified communication system that allows our clients to quickly reach us when they need to and allows us to provide the service they deserve promptly," said Ernesto Gregorio Jr., former director at the DPWH's Region VII office who spearheaded the project before his retirement on July 19, 2024.
Regional director Danilo J. Villa Jr., the newly appointed head of DPWH Region VII, pledged to pursue the initiatives of his predecessor as it fosters the Department's vision "To build a Smart City that has an effective and efficient government agency that works tirelessly to improve the life of every Filipino through quality infrastructure."
"We hope to strengthen this partnership across Region VII and, if we are successful, recommend this as a model for other regions," Villa added.
Kent de la Calzada, PLDT Enterprise Assistant Vice President and Head of Customer Relationship Management for the Visayas, said that the partnership with DPWH Region VII is part of the PLDT Group's much larger goal of extending a helping hand in nation-building.
"We at PLDT Enterprise are committed to helping our customers succeed. And for a government agency like DPWH Region VII, that commitment to succeed is more focused given the impact of its various projects on the economy and the lives of the residents of Central Visayas," said de la Calzada.
