MANILA – Fnatic Onic Philippines became the first team to clinch a spot in the MPL Philippines Season 14 Playoffs after beating Team Liquid Philippines, 2-0, in their second-round meeting on Friday night at the Green Sun Hotel Ballroom.
Fnatic Onic PH, led by jungler King Perez and gold laner Grant Pillas, also set MPL PH history as they became the fastest club ever to clinch a spot in the playoffs.
Earlier in the night, Smart Omega survived an upset bid from Blacklist International for a 2-1 win.
Smart Omega bounced back from a shocking Game 2 loss by dominating the match decider.
Following the results of the Friday doubleheader, Smart Omega is now in solo fourth place with a 5-3 record and Team Liquid PH dropped to fifth place at 4-4. (PNA)
