Hospitalized flood victims in BARMM get health aid

COTABATO CITY – All hospitalized flood victims in at least four areas of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) will receive assistance from the Ministry of Health (MOH).

MOH-BARMM Minister Dr. Kadil Sinolinding Jr. said on Monday that the flood victims will benefit from the Medical Assistance to Indigent and Financially Incapacitated Patients Program (MAIFIPP).

The severely flood-affected BARMM provinces include Maguindanao del Norte, Maguindanao del Sur, Lanao del Sur, and the Special Geographic Area in North Cotabato.

“All admitted patients who were flood victims during the recent calamity in Lanao Sur, Maguindanao provinces, and SGA need not worry because we have the MAIFIPP program,” Sinolinding said in a statement.

He said MOH covers comprehensive hospital fees, including doctors' fees in accredited regional infirmaries.

“MAIFIPP is dedicated to supporting our community during this challenging flood event,” he said, adding that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right, not just a privilege.

Sinolinding said validation and assessment are continuing, and the list of patients confined in various hospitals has yet to be determined.

MOH has PHP5.5 million in funds for MAIFIPP transferred to various hospitals from BARMM following the signing of a recent memorandum of agreement. (PNA)
