Kamala Harris has admitted that she struggles to answer interview questions.
Asked about her biggest weakness at a CNN town hall on Wednesday evening, the vice president, who has frequently been criticised for her “word salad” answers, conceded that she was not always “quick” on her feet.
“I may not be quick to have the answer as soon as you ask it about a specific policy issue sometimes because I’m going to want to research it,” Ms Harris told voters at the event.
Admitting she was “kind of a nerd”, she said she was often “asked a certain question and just expected to have the right answer right away” in interviews – “but that’s not how I work”.
It follows a scandal over Ms Harris’ interview on “60 Minutes”, where broadcaster CBS admitted it had edited out one of her answers on Israel to replace it with a more “succinct” quote.
The Trump campaign accused the network of bias and inserting a pithier response to help the vice president.
