DATU ODIN SINSUAT, Maguindanao Norte – Police authorities in Maguindanao del Norte are pursuing two men believed to be behind the ambush of a field commander of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) in Barangay Dalican here on Tuesday morning.
“We have two persons of interest who may be behind the shooting of a commander of the MILF and his relative,” Staff Sgt. Benjamin Bedo, the investigator-on-case, said in an interview Wednesday.
Garate Tumanggong Kawilan, commander of the MILF 104th base command, was onboard a white minivan driven by his relative, Ali Guiamaluden, in Barangay Dalican when waylaid along the road.
“They were heading toward the town center when ambushed. Based on the closed-circuit television footage in the area, the two suspects quickly fled onboard a waiting black sedan after shooting the victims,” Bedo said.
The victims, who both sustained multiple bullet wounds, are now in stable condition in a government hospital in Cotabato City.
Police said the victims had yet to provide information as to the possible motive behind the attack, which is initially linked to a family feud. (PNA)
