Manila's Lacuna-Servo tandem seeks 2nd term

Incumbent Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna and Vice Mayor Yul Servo are seeking a second term in the May 2025 midterm elections.

The standard bearers of the capital city's local dominant political party Asenso Manileño filed their certificates of candidacy (COC) before the local Commission on Elections (Comelec) at the SM City Manila Cinema 12 on Thursday.

The tandem vowed to continue serving under the principle of good and honest governance that is centered on the delivery of more basic services for the most needy sectors, especially the senior citizens.

"We will definitely win. We will not engage in mudslinging kasi hindi naman po kami pinalaki ng magulang namin na manira po ng ibang tao (we were not raised by our parents to malign other people),” Lacuna said in an interview.

After filing their COCs, Lacuna and Servo accompanied their candidates for councilor in the different districts of Manila -- among them Bong Marzan, brother of former city administrator Jay Marzan, who will run for fourth district councilor.

Lacuna said together with Servo, she will continue the centerpiece program of their administration, the social amelioration program which provides monthly financial assistance to senior citizens, solo parents, persons and minors with disability and university students from the two city-run colleges.

The tandem were greeted by supporters, all clad in blue shirts at the Kartilya ng Katipunan beside the Manila City Hall before proceeding to SM Manila.

Also running under the Asenso Manileño ticket for the city's congressional posts are former 1st District Rep. Manny Lopez and incumbents Rolando Valeriano (2nd District), Joel Chua (3rd District), Irwin Tieng (5th District) and Bienvenido Abante (6th District).

Incumbent 4th District Rep. Edward Maceda's wife, Giselle, will seek to replace him after he has reached the three-term limit. (PNA)
