Megaworld upgrades rewards to Yulo to P35M after 2nd gold

The country's first two-time Olympic gold medalist, Carlos Yulo, will receive a fully furnished three-bedroom condominium in one of the priciest neighborhoods in the Philippines plus P3 million in cash courtesy of property developer Megaworld.

Hours after Yulo dominated the men's artistic gymnastics vault in the 2024 Paris Olympics on Sunday, Megaworld immediately upgraded its rewards to the gymnast. Yulo's first Olympics gold medal came on Saturday after reigning in the men's artistic gymnastics floor exercise final.

"Since this is a very significant milestone in the history of Philippine sports to have two gold Olympic medals during our 10th-year participation as a country in the Olympics, which also coincides with our company's 35th anniversary this year, we are boosting our reward for Carlos Yulo now totaling to P35 million. He truly deserves this and we will always be proud of him for taking Filipino excellence to the next level," said Lourdes Gutierrez-Alonzon, president of Megaworld.

The bigger three-bedroom condo unit is in one of Megaworld's premier residential properties inside the 50-hectare Mckinley Hills.

The condominium unit will be designed and fully furnished with appliances, furniture, and fixtures. It also comes with two balconies, a separate maid's room, and a parking lot with a total value of P32 million.

On August 1, Megaworld announced that it is rewarding each Filipino athlete who wins a gold medal in the Olympics with a two-bedroom, fully furnished condominium unit amounting to P24 million.

Yulo is expected to receive a windfall of incentives upon returning to the country.

The government, other private companies, and some brands have already announced rewards for Filipino athletes returning with Olympic medals.
