In yet another thrilling matchup, the Meralco Bolts edged out the San Miguel Beermen with a final score of 93-89 in Game 3 of the PBA Philippine Cup Finals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.

The Bolts, displaying tenacity and skill, managed to secure a crucial victory that swung the momentum in their favor.

Chris Newsome was the standout performer, delivering a stellar performance that earned him the title of Best Player of the Game.

His contribution was pivotal in Meralco's win, as they now look ahead to Game 4 with heightened confidence.

The game was tightly contested from the outset, with both teams showcasing their offensive prowess and defensive resilience.

Meralco took an early lead, finishing the first quarter ahead by four points at 28-24.

However, the Beermen, known for their formidable lineup and tactical acumen, fought back in the second quarter, reducing the deficit to just two points at halftime, 48-46.

The intensity of the match was palpable, with each possession becoming increasingly critical as the game progressed.

Newsome's 26 points, along with his four boards and four dimes, were instrumental in Meralco's victory.

His ability to score crucial baskets under pressure and his all-around playmaking kept the Bolts ahead in the nail-biting final moments.

Newsome's performance was complemented by Raymond Almazan, who added 17 points, and Bong Quinto, who chipped in with 16 points.

San Miguel's standout players included Moala Tautuaa, who led the team with 19 points, and CJ Perez, who contributed 18 points.

Despite their valiant efforts, the Beermen fell short in the final stretch. The Bolts' defense managed to stifle San Miguel's late-game rally, ensuring that key players like Marcio Lassiter and June Mar Fajardo, who scored 12 points each, couldn't turn the tide in their favor.

The close nature of the game reflected the high stakes and competitive spirit of the PBA Finals.

With this victory, the Bolts now lead the series, and they will aim to capitalize on this momentum in Game 4, scheduled for June 12, 2024, coinciding with Independence Day.
