Meralco to energize Robinsons Land's real estate projects

Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) has reaffirmed its strong commitment to support Robinsons Land Corporation (RLC) by ensuring timely delivery of reliable electric services to the latter's commercial and residential developments.

In a recent executive engagement, key officials of the distribution utility presented a comprehensive development plan that will support the power requirements of the Gokongwei-led real estate firm's existing and future projects.

Among those set to be energized by Meralco are Sierra Valley in Rizal and The Jewel in Mandaluyong City, both of which are slated to be operational by 2026.

"We are excited to partner with Meralco to further our mission of promoting sustainable development. This partnership will enable us to provide our customers and residents with energy-efficient solutions that are both environmentally friendly and economically viable. Together, we are reaching significant milestones and paving the way for future innovations and growth. Our commitment to excellence and sustainable development reaffirms our shared vision for a brighter, more resilient future," said Lance Y. Gokongwei, President and CEO of RLC.

Meralco and RLC's partnership has spanned operational efficiencies and sustainability initiatives in the past five years. These include the solar photovoltaic (PV) installation for Nustar Resort and Casino through the utility's solar company, MSpectrum. RLC also tapped Meralco's sustainable mobility arm, Movem, to install electric vehicle charging stations in several Robinsons Malls 2022.

RLC is also part of the government's Interruptible Load Program, under which 10 Robinsons Malls in the Meralco franchise area take part in demand-side management when the power supply situation in Luzon is insufficient. Through this, RLC — which has a total de-loading capacity of 31 MW — helps spare households and small businesses from unplanned power interruptions.

Meralco's Enterprise Commercial and Conglomerates group houses a dedicated relationship management team. This team is specifically assigned to manage customers like RLC, providing them with tailored support and innovative energy solutions that match their scale and needs.

"Meralco and RLC's fruitful collaboration over the years takes centerstage in our business review session. Aside from providing world-class and innovative energy solutions, our goal is to assess progress, identify areas for enhancement, and strategically align efforts towards shared success," said Meralco Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Ferdinand O. Geluz.

Meralco also commits to investing in projects that ensure that the infrastructure to support the government's nation-building efforts is in place. This aligns with the government's socio-economic agenda, particularly energy security and infrastructure development.

"It is our mandate as the country's largest distribution utility to provide utmost support and deliver exceptional service to our customers to drive success for businesses and communities, which play a significant role in propelling our growth as a nation," Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho concluded.
