NBI arrests four for falsifying public documents

The National Bureau of Investigation-Special Task Force (NBI-STF), led by NBI Director Judge Jaime B. Santiago (Ret.), arrested four individuals in Sta. Cruz, Manila, for falsifying public documents.


Director Santiago said that STF received information regarding individuals allegedly falsifying public documents. Accordingly, these individuals offer fake NBI Clearance, land titles, passports, and other documents in Santa Cruz, Manila, for a price ranging from P700 to P2,500.


After confirming the illegal activity through surveillance and test buy operations, an entrapment operation was hatched.


In coordination with the local police, STF operatives proceeded to the target location on October 14, 2024. The operation resulted in the arrest of PAUL CHRISTIAN ABELLERA y CALA, EDGARDO CARPIO y CRUZ, JENNY BADE TRAJANO y CEPEDA, and a minor who were caught in the act engaging in falsification of public documents. Recovered from the possession of the arrested Subjects were computers, office tools, and spurious documents such as NBI Clearance, PSA Certificates, land titles, and LTO Certificates, among others.


Subjects were presented for inquest proceedings before the Manila Prosecutor’s Office for violation of Article 172 about Article 171 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended.
