The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a 600-lineal-meter Farm-to-Market Road at Sitio San Ysiro, Barangay San Jose, Antipolo City, Rizal.
DPWH Secretary Manuel M. Bonoan, citing a report from DPWH Region IV-A Director Jovel G. Mendoza, said that the FMR project completed in the amount of P11.9 million will facilitate improved access to goods and services in the area.
Prior to the concrete paving of the road, residents of Sitio San Ysiro would endure traversing a dilapidated road which also turns muddy during the rainy season.
The completed farm-to-market road has a width of 6.10 meters and includes a 218-meter lined canal to support proper drainage. The road structure was constructed using a 200-millimeter-thick Portland cement concrete pavement and a 200-millimeter-thick base preparation treated with a polymer-based chemical soil additive to ensure durability and stability.
The newly concreted road will significantly improve accessibility in the area, allowing locals, especially students, to travel more easily.
The DPWH Rizal 1st District Engineering Office served as the implementing office for the FMR project, ensuring that construction was completed according to plans and specifications and within the targeted timeline.
