Over 3M PhilID cards delivered in Bicol – PSA

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) 5 (Bicol) reported on Wednesday that more than 3 million Philippine Identification (PhilID) cards or national IDs have so far been delivered throughout the region by the Philippine Postal Corporation (PHLPost).

In an interview, Rudyard Ernest Sabao, PSA-5 Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) focal person, said as of Aug. 30, the PHLPost had already delivered 3,068,200 physical cards to six provinces.

"We are continuously coordinating and updating with PHLPost to fast-track the delivery of the national IDs," he said.

Sabao said aside from the 3 million delivered IDs, they also issued 1.9 million printed-on-paper national IDs with the same functions and validity.

"These are the individuals who have national ID in our record but have not yet received it. So that they can use it while they wait for physical cards, we printed their IDs," he said.

Sabao said that some 4.95 million residents of Bicol are now registered with the PhilSys out of the 5 million target.

"Our achievement rate is already 97.2 percent," he said.

PSA-5 also reminded the public to be vigilant against scammers collecting or scanning PhilID data in exchange for a certain amount.

"Do not give your PhilID or ePhilID to any person claiming to be employed by PSA for scanning, data collection, or verification because it may compromise your privacy and security," he said.

Sabao said any individuals who will encounter such an incident may give and file a complaint at rsso05@psa.gov.ph or visit the nearest PSA office. (PNA)
