COTABATO CITY – Anti-narcotic agents arrested an alleged big-time illegal drug peddler and seized 200 grams of “shabu” worth PHP1.3 million during a buy-bust operation along Jose Lim Street here Wednesday.
In a statement, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PDEA-BARMM) said the suspect, identified as Najer Cosain Arumpac of Buldon, Maguindanao del Norte, was about to sell the prohibited drugs to an undercover agent when arrested.
“Members of Cotabato City Police Station 1 and Cotabato City Drug Enforcement Unit backed PDEA operatives during the entrapment operation at about 3 p.m.,” the PDEA-BARMM said.
Two huge sachets of shabu items, buy-bust money, a mobile phone, and an identification card were seized from the suspect, it added.
According to PDEA-BARMM, the suspect's illegal drug distribution covers nearby towns of Lanao Del Sur and as far as Cotabato City.
Arumpac is now detained at the PDEA-BARMM jail facility in this city while awaiting inquest proceedings for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
