P14.4-M 'shabu' seized at Davao checkpoint

DAVAO CITY – The Task Force Davao (TFD) and the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) confiscated some 900 grams of shabu, valued at P14.4 million, from an unidentified male bus passenger on Wednesday night at the Lacson checkpoint in Calinan District here.

Col. Darren Comia, TFD commander, said passengers alighted for the required inspection at the screening section of the checkpoint when a male passenger returned to the bus, threw a small box behind it, then fled on foot.

As a result, the incident created panic among the passengers and the residents living nearby.

"Upon examination, the box contained shabu, weighing some 900 grams," Comia said.

He lauded the TFD and DCPO personnel stationed at the checkpoint.

"The interception of illicit substances at our city's border control points highlights the effectiveness of our stringent checkpoint operations in preventing the entry of illegal items," he said.

He said local authorities are actively pursuing the suspect.

"In the meantime, all seized evidence is securely held by the DCPO, pending further investigation and legal proceedings," he said. PNA
