MANILA – President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. was forced to skip the distribution of assistance to farmers, fisherfolk, and families affected by El Niño in Odiongan, Romblon on Thursday due to inclement weather.
Marcos was supposed to lead the program for the aid distribution at the Romblon State University, Odiongan, Romblon on Thursday morning.
However, heavy rains and floods in Romblon prompted the President to skip the event and head to Palawan instead where a similar program was set to be held.
In his speech in Palawan, Marcos said some members of the Cabinet who were supposed to accompany him in the two ceremonies where left in Romblon to lead the program.
“Nauna sila sa Romblon, dapat susunod ako ngunit umulan kaya’t hindi na ako makapasok kaya’t nagpo-programa rin sila ng ganito rin sa Romblon naman (They arrived first in Romblon, I was supposed to come next but it rained so we couldn't land so they are also holding a program like this in Romblon)” he said.
The President is expected to lead the turnover of a rice processing system in Ilocos Norte on Thursday afternoon. (PNA)
