There is no politics involved in the budget hearing for the Office of Vice President Sara Duterte, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said on Wednesday.
“It has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with the budget,” President Marcos said when sought to comment on the Vice President’s allegations that the budget hearing for the Office of the Vice President is being politicized by lawmakers, including threats to impeach her.
President Marcos explained that the budget hearing is a well-established process conducted annually by Congress for “every single government agency,” meaning the Office of the Vice President is included in the process.
“So, I don’t know she can characterize these things, which is essentially an information gathering exercise for the House and for the Senate so that they know what the budget will look like,” President Marcos told reporters during an aerial inspection of areas hit by Storm Enteng.
When asked to comment on Duterte’s regrets for asking members of fugitive Apollo Quiboloy’s Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) to vote for Marcos in the 2022 polls, the President simply replied, “That’s her prerogative.”
“I still don’t understand why, but … that is her…it is her wish. Wala tayong magagawa,” the President added.
The President also admitted that he no longer has communication with the Vice President.
He mentioned that the last time he spoke with Duterte was when she handed in her resignation from the Cabinet in June this year. PND
