PBBM: ‘Healthcare is about prompt action’

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on Thursday cited the importance of prompt government action on the health care needs of Filipinos as he led the turnover of 51 ambulances from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to local government units (LGUs) and state-run hospitals in Western Visayas.

“It’s built upon our thrust to improve people’s access to health care, especially in vulnerable communities and geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas,” President Marcos said during the turnover ceremony held in Passi City, Iloilo.

“In delivering those services, every second matters and these vehicles will ensure that help will arrive without delay. Because our work is about prompt action. Healthcare is about prompt action.”

The state-of-the-art and reliable ambulances, or patient transport vehicles (PTVs), will provide timely and safe transportation of patients to and from medical facilities.

The vehicles will also serve as a lifeline to bridge the gaps during emergencies and calamities, the President added, as he promised to make sure that no Filipino is left behind without help.

The vehicles are being handed over to local recipients through the Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program of the PCSO.

President Marcos thanked the charitable institution for carrying out the program, which will provide medical services to millions of Filipinos all over the country.

Each of the PTVs is equipped with a stretcher, oxygen tank, and blood pressure monitor, among other medical equipment.

From June 30, 2022, to Sept. 11, 2024, 416 PTVs have been distributed to LGU beneficiaries from all regions except the National Capital Region (NCR). PND
