The Philippines has maintained its position of peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula and continued to call for its denuclearization.
In his attendance to the 19th East Asia Summit in Laos on Friday, President Marcos said the intercontinental ballistic missile launches of North Korea “undermines regional peace, security, and stability.”
He reiterated the Philippines’ call for the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) to comply with all relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions.
He also commended South Korea’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula.
“The Philippines has joined calls on the DPRK to comply with all relevant UNSC resolutions and we welcome the Republic of Korea’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the Korean Peninsula,” he said.
The President cited the “Audacious Initiative” and the “15 August Unification Doctrine” as important efforts to advance peace.
“We have consistently supported the call for a complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization of the DPRK,” he said. |PND
