Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez was honored with a prestigious recognition from the Philippine Constitution Association (Philconsa) for his unwavering dedication to upholding the sanctity of the Constitution and the rule of law.
The accolade was inscribed in a plaque of appreciation handed to Speaker Romualdez by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. during the association’s 63rd anniversary celebration held at Malacañang Palace last September 26.
In his message as guest of honor during the event, President Marcos Jr. highlighted the vital role of Philconsa, noting that “in the past sixty-three years, the Philconsa has remained the steadfast, vigilant, and uncompromising guardians of our democracy and of our nation.”
Among others, the plaque cited Speaker Romualdez’s “unflagging interest to preserve the sanctity of the Constitution and the Rule of Law.”
The plaque was signed by retired Supreme Court Chief Justice Reynato Puno, Philconsa chairman; Jose Leviste Jr., executive vice president; and Atty. Michelle Lazaro, secretary general of the organization.
As incumbent Philconsa President, Speaker Romualdez was also hailed “for his purposeful leadership and untiring support to the Philconsa, which enabled it to play its role as the foremost champion of the Constitution.”
The plaque likewise highlighted Speaker Romualdez’s deep commitment to ensuring that the Constitution continues to protect the lives, liberties, and properties of the Filipino people, adapting to the evolving challenges of the times.
Founded on September 26, 1961, Philconsa is a non-stock and non-profit civic organization of legal luminaries, business and socio-civic leaders, with the common goal and commitment to defend and preserve the Constitution.
