MANILA – The local stock barometer rebounded on Friday after Super Typhoon Carina left the Philippine area of responsibility, while the peso-dollar trading resumed after two consecutive days of suspension.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) gained 55.74 points closing at 6,726.01, while the All Shares index went up by 23.29 points to 3,630.10.
"Philippine share rebounded as Typhoon Carina left the Philippine area of responsibility while US stocks closed mixed ahead of a reading of the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge," Regina Capital Development Corp. managing director Luis Limlingan said.
Except for Mining and Oil, which declined by 46.73 points, all Sectors closed in the green.
Gainers outnumbered losers at 102 to 80, leaving 57 unchanged.
The peso, meanwhile, closed at 58.35 to a dollar on Friday.
It opened at 58.545.
The currency pair traded between 58.35 and 58.545, bringing the day's weighted average to 58.444.
Volume of trade amounted to USD1.28 billion. (PNA)
