SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez on Wednesday expressed deep appreciation to the leadership of the Senate for its proactive collaboration with the House of Representatives in advancing priority and local bills.
During a press conference in Malacañang after the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) meeting Wednesday, Romualdez highlighted the dynamic partnership between the two chambers of Congress, noting that this cooperation has allowed both houses to efficiently pass key pieces of legislation that benefit both national and local constituencies.
"We are most delighted under the new Senate leadership that we even have a more dynamic and proactive Senate," the Speaker said, acknowledging the leadership of Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero.
He emphasized that the efficiency in processing legislative priorities has been critical in achieving the administration’s goals, especially those set by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr.
Speaker Romualdez highlighted that the Senate’s active role in passing local bills has significantly helped House lawmakers.
"We are very, very happy to see the progress and much more efficient manner in which the priority legislation for our congressmen and local bills as well as national are being undertaken," Romualdez said.
The Speaker expressed optimism that the legislative priorities set by the LEDAC will be realized ahead of schedule.
"We are confident that before the year ends we shall have finished all by December or six months in advance," he affirmed, commending both houses for their dedication to addressing the administration's key legislative agenda.
Romualdez also stressed the importance of maintaining harmony between the two chambers, noting that such collaboration ensures the swift passage of laws that have a direct impact on the public.
"We are one with the Senate in fulfilling the legislative priority agenda of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.," he said.
This strong collaboration, Romualdez noted, will pave the way for a productive legislative session in the coming months, ensuring that both national and local priorities are addressed efficiently.
