BUTUAN CITY – The Police Regional Office in Caraga (PRO-13) has heightened security measures as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) begins accepting certificates of candidacy (COCs) from Oct. 1 to 8 for the May 2025 midterm elections.
In a phone interview Wednesday, Maj. Jennifer Omiter, PRO-13 information office chief, said police visibility and intensified anti-criminality campaigns are part of efforts to secure the filing process across the region’s provinces.
"PRO-13 will also conduct joint random checkpoint operations and foot patrols with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to bolster security," Omiter said.
PRO-13 field units are coordinating closely with local Comelec offices to ensure an orderly and peaceful filing of candidacies.
"We are finalizing the number of augmentation forces to be deployed across different areas in the region," Omiter added.
The augmentation will include personnel from the AFP, Civilian Volunteer Organizations, and Barangay Police Auxiliary Teams.
Omiter said the number of police officers assigned to ensure peace and order throughout the election-related activities will be announced soon. (PNA)
