PARIS, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Olympic record holder Kim Woo-jin of South Korea ranked first with 686 shots in the archery men's individual ranking round at the Paris Olympics on Thursday, followed by his compatriot Kim Je-deok with a season-best of 682 shots.
"The most important is to get rid of any kind of greed or wanting to do too much. So, this time, we just try to do our best," said Kim Woo-jin, who helped South Korea win the men's team gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.
Florian Unruh of Germany finished third in the men's individual ranking round. The world record holder Brady Ellison of the United States placed 7th, while the reigning Olympic champion Mete Gazoz of Türkiye in the 8th.
South Korea also claimed a 1-2 finish in the women's individual ranking round earlier on Thursday, currently ranking first in all five events - women's individual, men's individual, women's team, men's team, and mixed team.
With a total of 1380, South Korea also created a new mixed team Olympic record to beat the previous score of 1368.
In the men's and women's team events, the top four seeded teams from the ranking round will advance directly to the quarterfinals.
The elimination round of the women's team and the men's team will take place on July 28 and July 29, respectively. Enditem.
