Speaker’s 16-point surge in satisfaction ratings inspires Congress’ ‘Young Guns’ to do more

The recent 16-point surge in Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez’s satisfaction ratings will serve as motivation to members of the “Young Guns” in the House of Representatives to do more for the welfare of the Filipino people.


“Congratulations po sa ating mahal na Speaker Romualdez for this meteoric rise in approval ratings. This underscores the effectiveness of his leadership and his unwavering commitment to serving the Filipino people. At dahil po dito, idol po namin kayo ng Young Guns ng Kongreso,” they said in a statement.


The so-called Young Guns in the 19th Congress include Taguig Rep. Pammy Zamora, Ako Bicol Rep. Jil Bongalon, Zambales Rep. Jay Khonghun, Lanao del Sur Rep. Zia Alonto Adiong, La Union Rep. Paolo Ortega, 1Rider Rep. Rodge Gutierrez, Isabela Rep. Inno Dy, Davao Oriental Cheeno Almario, PBA Rep. Migs Nograles, Manila Rep. Ernix Dionisio, Cagayan de Oro City Rep. Lordan Suan, Nueva Ecija Rep. Mikaela Suansing, and Anakalusugan Rep. Ray Reyes.


“The Speaker’s approach to governance, characterized by dedication and a deep sense of responsibility, has not only advanced the legislative agenda of the House but has also inspired a new generation of lawmakers,” they declared.


“As Young Guns in the House of Representatives, we are profoundly influenced by his style of leadership and are motivated to emulate his diligence and passion for public service,” they added.


The Young Guns are a group of young lawmakers who have stepped up in areas of legislation and have shown no fear in publicly declaring their views on many issues of national concern.


“The House has seen major legislative successes that have contributed to national development and enhanced the welfare of our citizens under Speaker Romualdez. His focus on inclusive and people-centered policies has made a tangible difference in the lives of countless Filipinos,” they remarked.


“His leadership has been instrumental in promoting initiatives that ensure economic growth, social equity, and sustainable development,” they further noted.


They said as young lawmakers, they are committed to supporting Speaker Romualdez's vision and will continue working diligently to contribute to the nation's progress and to uphold the standards of integrity and accountability that the House leader exemplifies.


“We, the Young Guns, reaffirm our commitment to the values Speaker Romualdez promotes. We strive to serve our constituents with the same zeal and dedication, ensuring that the trust placed in us by the people is honored and upheld,” they said.


The recent SWS survey was conducted from June 23 to July 1, 2024, with a sample size of 1,500 adults nationwide and a ±2.5% margin of error.


Speaker Romualdez garnered a 16-point increase, from +37 in March 2024 to +53 in July of this year. A total of 53% of respondents were satisfied with the Speaker’s performance, while 24% were dissatisfied.


The net satisfaction with Speaker Romualdez was highest in the Visayas at a strong +36, followed by Balance Luzon at +32, Metro Manila at +27, and Mindanao at +20.
