Sen. Joel Villanueva, during the plenary session on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, says the Technical Education And Skills Development Authority (TESDA) founded on August 25 thirty years ago, is at transitional age which marks the shift from youthful 20s to a more mature phase of adulthood. Villanueva said TESDA has shown a significant transition, having produced a more skilled trainees in different trade areas.
During the recent 2024 Philippine Skills Competition held at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, TESDA trainees from different regions harvested medals, erasing the stigma of a second-rate status in tech-voc in the country. They will participate in this year’s World Skills Competition which will be held in Lyon, France. “For the past three decades, TESDA has taken great strides in uplifting the lives of Filipinos. We are honored and humbled to have been part of the agency’s journey,” Villanueva said. “Like a ‘pearl,’ TESDA has grown and jobs have been created,” he added.
