The TGP (Talino at Galing ng Pilipino) party-list will try to secure a third term in the 2025 midterm national and local elections.
Rep. Jose Teves Jr. on Saturday officially filed a certificate of nomination before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) at The Manila Hotel Tent City.
Teves, currently House Deputy Majority Leader, expressed confidence in securing three seats, which would allow the party to significantly expand its programs and services across the country.
“We’ve seen the positive impact of our work on the lives of countless Filipinos. With more representation, we can enhance and double our efforts in providing essential services, especially in the areas of youth empowerment, healthcare, and environmental protection,” Teves said.
TGP party-list’s flagship advocacies include youth empowerment programs, pushing for legislation and initiatives that benefit the youth, ranging from education to livelihood opportunities; healthcare initiatives that recognize the need for affordable medicine, lower drug prices and reforms to the Department of Health’s Medical Assistance to Indigent Patients program, including a proposal to eliminate doctors' fees for indigent patients; and environmental protection through legislative measures and community-based programs.
The group has also provided gardening tools and assistance through government programs such as the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation, Tulong Panghanapbuhay Para sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers and Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program.
The party-list has likewise contributed to projects like multi-purpose buildings, farm-to-market roads, covered courts, evacuation centers and solar-powered water systems.
Teves said losing representation in Congress would mean scaling back the services that Filipinos rely on.
“We cannot afford to lose momentum. I’m calling on all our supporters to stand with us and ensure that TGP continues its mission in Congress. Together, we can achieve more,” Teves said. (PR)
