MANILA – Several roads in Metro Manila may experience vehicular traffic during the off hours this weekend due to the transport of tunnel boring machines (TBMs) for the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP).
In a traffic advisory Friday, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said the transport of heavy machinery is scheduled from 9 p.m. until 4 a.m. the next day, on both Saturday and Sunday.
The TBMs will be transported from the Manila Harbor Center to Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo.
“The TBM will be used in the construction of the tunnels that shall connect MMSP’s Camp Aguinaldo Station and Ortigas Station,” the DOTr said.
The transport of TBMs will likely affect traffic along Port/R-10 between 9 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., C3 Road from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., 5th Avenue from 10:30 p.m. to 12 a.m., G. Araneta Avenue from 12 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., E. Rodriguez Sr. Avenue from 1:30 a.m. to 2 a.m., Gilmore Avenue from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m., and Col. Bonny Serrano Avenue from 3 a.m. to 4 a.m.
“Motorists are advised to take alternate routes. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding,” it said.
As of May 31, the MMSP has reached 14.48 percent of its target completion, DOTr Undersecretary Timothy John Batan said during the Build Better More infrastructure forum last week. (PNA)
