The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) yesterday announced the arrest of Vietnamese national for selling illegal drugs.
Arrested was Van Vinh Nguyen alias Wei, who was in an entrapment operation in Parañaque City.
According to NBI Director Jaime Santiago, the suspect delivered one gram of ketamine and one piece of ecstasy in a test-buy operation through a ride-hailing service. The NBI-Forensic Chemistry Division then conducted examination on the package and issued a certification which yielded positive result for the presence of ketamine hydrochloride and likewise tested positive for the presence of methylenedioxymethamphetamine.
A poseur-buyer from the NBI then placed an order for ketamine and ecstacy worth P20,000.00. After the payment had been confirmed by the Subject, he sent the contraband via delivery service. Tactical interrogation with the delivery service driver pinpointed to the suspect as the source of the contraband. Operatives immediately proceeded to Bayshore Residential Resort Parañaque City, the location given by the delivery driver, according top Santiago.
In pretense that the contraband was not received by the poseur-buyer, the same was returned to Nguyen. Upon his receipt of the contraband, operatives identified themselves and placed the suspect, identified through his passport, under arrest.
The illegal drugs were found hidden inside a small teddy bear. Evidence seized were turned over to FCD for laboratory examination and analysis, while Subject was brought to NBI-DDD office at Pasay City for the standard operating procedures.
A case for violation of Section 5 of RA No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) was being prepared for the conduct of inquest proceedings at the Parañaque City Prosecutor’s Office.
