LEGAZPI CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 5 (Bicol), through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS), has turned over 16 sub-projects to five provinces in the region that would benefit 1,379 households.
In an interview on Friday, Ranelle Anne Sertan, DSWD-5 social marketing officer, said they completed the sub-projects worth PHP7.1 million in the provinces of Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, Sorsogon, Albay, and Masbate.
"The subprojects were turned over to the various local government units (LGUs) from Aug. 12 to 15 this year. We are thankful to all the communities that provided support for the completion of the projects. Most of the projects comprised child development centers, barangay health centers, pathways, road constructions, and a sanitary toilet," Sertan said.
Catanduanes received three projects; Camarines Sur, eight; Albay, two; Masbate, two; and Sorsogon, one.
"We still have various ongoing subprojects in the Bicol Region that are expected to be completed by this month and be useful in the daily lives of communities in six provinces," she added.
Sertan said the projects constructed in the LGUs were identified by the community, making them feasible.
Kalahi-CIDSS is a Community-Driven Development program of DSWD that empowers communities to participate in the identification, implementation, and management of projects or interventions. (PNA)
