LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a PHP50.2 million worth four-story school building of Tayug National High School in Tayug, Pangasinan.
DPWH Ilocos Region information officer Esperanza Tinaza, in a statement on Friday, said the building has a floor area of 1,748 square meters comprising of 16 classrooms.
"The new building solves the classroom shortage due to increasing number of students. The project is equipped with a strong foundation with micro piles and includes comprehensive lighting, water supply, floor tiles, and restrooms," she said.
Its construction began on August 14, 2023 and was finished on June 8, 2024. It was inaugurated on July 29 this year in time for the opening of classes, she said.
The project was funded under the 2023 national budget.
Tayug National High School principal Benjamin Bautista thanked the DPWH for its effective management and completion of the project.
He said the new building will significantly enhance the teaching environment for teachers and provide a desirable learning environment for students. (PNA)
