In celebration of National Heroes Day, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) showed its P100,000 Philippine Centennial commemorative banknote for collectors.
The banknote "honors the bravery and patriotism of the Filipino heroes by highlighting the 100,000-piso centennial commemorative notes from its numismatic collection," the BSP said.
"This largest Philippine commemorative banknote was printed in 1998 for the celebration of the centennial of Philippine Independence. The 100,000-Piso Centennial Commemorative Note is available as a collectible at the BSP store," the central bank said in a statement.
The obverse of the note showcases a symbolic scene of the struggle for Philippine Independence in 1896—the Sigaw ng Himagsikan led by Andres Bonifacio, the supremo of the Katipunan. The reverse features the proclamation of Philippine Independence led by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo on 12 June 1898 in Kawit, Cavite.
"Only 1000 pieces of this banknote were printed," the BSP said on its social media pages.
