MSpectrum Inc., a wholly owned solar subsidiary of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco), has partnered with the local unit of US-based Excelitas Technologies Corporation for a solar project in Laguna.
Under the agreement, MSpectrum will install a 116 kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar facility at Excelitas Technologies Philippines, Inc.'s manufacturing facility in Cabuyao.
The project, which is targeted for completion in December 2024, is expected to generate approximately 165,998 kWh of clean energy every year.
This will allow Excelitas to reduce its carbon footprint by an estimated 118.2 metric tons, translating to more than 5,430 trees planted and more than 470,000 kilometers reduced in vehicle travel per year.
"Partnering with MSpectrum is a step in the right direction for Excelitas Technologies Philippines as we do our part to be good corporate citizens by harnessing the benefits of renewable energy. We look forward to doing more in the future," said Enrique M. Sonoy, Jr., Senior Director of Operations of Excelitas Technologies Philippines.
