P2M shabu seized, couple nabbed in Bacolod buy-bust ops - PNP

BACOLOD CITY – A couple was arrested by police anti-drug operatives in a buy-bust that led to the recovery of PHP2.142 million worth of shabu in Barangay Banago here before midnight on Wednesday.


The suspects– Rachell Sampayan, 23; and her live-in partner Echero Baldelovar, 24; both jobless– are residents of Purok Langis, Barangay Banago, and Purok Tilapia, Barangay 3, respectively.


Col. Joeresty Coronica, Bacolod City Police officer-in-charge, lauded the operating units, including the City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and Police Station 3, for their relentless efforts in their campaign against illegal drugs.


In a report, the CDEU said the suspects were caught selling shabu to a poseur-buyer in exchange for PHP1,000 marked money at a residence in Purok Langis at around 11:45 p.m.


Operatives seized nine sachets of shabu weighing about 315 grams, valued at PHP2.142 million.


The prevailing street price of shabu is PHP6,800, according to the CDEU report.


The suspects, now detained in the custodial facility of Police Station 3, will be charged with the violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.


The Wednesday night drug haul follows the series of major anti-drug operations in Bacolod this month that led to the recovery of more than six kilograms of suspected shabu worth PHP41.344 million in Barangay 35 on Aug. 13; 255 grams of shabu valued at PHP1.734 million, in Barangay Singcang-Airport on Aug. 11; and about 300 grams of shabu priced at PHP2.04 million, in Barangay Tangub on Aug. 10.
