Valenzuela takes a step toward becoming a digital city

The local government of Valenzuela on Wednesday, May 21, conducted its first digital summit to integrate digitalization initiatives in local governance that will seek to improve the city’s delivery of programs and services.

  The digital summit, dubbed as "Tech-Talk," gathered students from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela (PLV), and Valenzuela City Technological College (ValTech), as well as representatives from the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) to establish the important role of the youth in the advancement of digital transformation for community development.

  Aside from the informative talks on the ways in which digital technologies can aid in efficient local governance, the participants of the summit were also able to gain insight into the city’s digital innovation programs to improve the access of residents to the services of the local government.

  “The Valenzuela Digital Summit marks the beginning of the city’s continuous endeavor to upgrade, streamline, and innovate its processes and delivery of services to the people of Valenzuela City,” said the city government.

  Valenzuela City Mayor Wes Gatchalian introduced the following digital services that are already made available and accessible to residents:

V-Alert Button This is an emergency assistance application designed to provide immediate response to people who need to access the services of fire and police stations, women and child protection desks, ambulances, animal rescue, as well as traffic and waste management. DotBot Launched in February 2023, this serves as a messaging system that can be used to inquire about the requirements to avail of the services of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) as well as the requirements to avail of the different financial assistance under the local government including medical, burial and

transportation assistance.

  To date, the recent development of the DotBot involves the integration of a feature that will allow users to submit digital copies of their required documents for quicker processing of applications to city’s social assistance services.

  This feature will be initially available for users availing of the Hemodialysis and Peritoneal services to provide for a convenient health service utilization.

  Meanwhile, the local government is currently developing additional digital services to further simplify the transaction of residents.

Val-U Electronic Certificate of Final Electrical Inspection (CFEI) This will serve as the digital version of the certificate issued by the building official to the owner or applicant as a primary requirement for the installation of power lines to a certain establishment or structure, certifying the completeness of the needed electrical wirings to be installed.

  To ensure the implementation of the e-CFEI, the city government of Valenzuela also entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with electrical company Meralco as the primary electric power distributor in the country.

 

VSpace: Online Booking and Reservation System 

  To facilitate a convenient booking and reservation experience for Valenzuelano clients, the local government is developing an application that will allow interested parties to easily hold events in Casa de Polo, WES Events Space, ALERT Multipurpose Hall, among others.
