Vietnamese gold bar prices plunge

HANOI, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's gold bar prices have plummeted by around 1 million Vietnamese dong (39.7 U.S. dollars) per tael on Tuesday morning amid plunging global gold prices, local media reported.


At 9 a.m. local time Tuesday, Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) Limited reported declines of 800,000 dong (31.8 dollars) to 1.3 million dong (51.7 dollars) per tael, with SJC gold now trading at 77 million dong (3,063 dollars) to 79 million dong (3,143 dollars) per tael.


DOJI gold and jewellery corporation quoted SJC gold at the same prices.


The gold ring prices slightly decreased by 50,000 dong (1.9 dollars) to 100,000 dong (3.9 dollars) compared to Monday's trading session, Vietnam News Agency reported.


A tael equals 37.5 grams or 1.2 ounces. ■
