Paying the hospital bills of patients confined and undergoing treatment was among the birthday gifts of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. through the “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat para sa Lahat” program.
In his speech during the launch of the “Agri-Puhunan at Pantawid Program” in Guimba, Nueva Ecija on Friday, President Marcos said the government wants to shoulder the medical needs of the people confined and undergoing treatment in public hospitals.
“Kaya po sa araw na ito, sasagutin po natin ang lahat ng bayarin ng mga pasyente sa lahat ng pampublikong Level 3 hospital sa bansa katulad ng Dr. Paulino Garcia Memorial Hospital dito sa inyo,” President Marcos said, eliciting cheers and applause from Guimba residents.
To fulfill President Marcos’ commitment, the Department of Health (DOH) is set to release PhP328 million to 22 tertiary hospitals across the country to cover the medical expenses of patients who are confined and undergoing treatment.
The “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat para sa Lahat” program was launched on Friday. It’s a simultaneous nationwide distribution of assistance and provision of government services to 82 provinces in the country.
It aims to empower the Filipino people to improve their lives through starter programs, training, and assistance; to make government services more accessible and closer to the Filipino people; and to work hand-in-hand towards a Bagong Pilipinas.
Government agencies that will provide services include the Department of Agriculture (DA), the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Department of Health (DOH), and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) are also joining the program. PND
